23 Mar Ferobide Case Studies
Customers Situation: All using high HP, working at depth to lift, aerate and reconsolidate the soil and all burning through metal in very abrasive soils.
Neil Costello, Operations Manager
Te Pirita Enterprises. Canterbury.
At 17% of the cost of original points Ferobide weld on tiles have saved Te Pirita Enterprises countless hours in downtime used in behind OEM tungsten points.
In addition, on a large Sumo cultivator the brazed on tungsten on OEM hard metal points chips off due to our soil conditions, working into some big rocks and stones, we are finding its more cost effective to go for the standard OEM version of the point and weld Ferobide on top and bottom.

I’ve been using Ferobide faced packer scrapers and subsoiler points for twelve months now.
The packer scrapers with Ferobide tiles welded have completed 1200 acres with no visible wear, standard ones were needing adjusting after 80 acres in our silt soils. We have also subsoiled up to 950 acres without changing point metal.”

“We welded Ferobide to the point and wings of our John Deere nine leg inline ripper”.
Results are as follows:
Standard point at $199 – 110 acres
Standard point + additional hard facing – 220 acres
Standard point + Ferobide – 1,100 acres.
‘We completed the ripping process 3 days sooner than usual thanks to savings in downtime, greatly helped by using Ferobide’.
